Hi Skeleton,

Well, you should indeed look at it, it's a very powerful tool. There are two of them in fact :

  • the "direct" one in the toolbar, where you manipulate your mesh and end up with a modified one. You have to be cautious because if you make a mistake, you'll have to undo and start all over again.
  • the "stacked" one, in the layer menu "Add / Deformation", even more powerful because you can modify the original mesh and the deformer itself at any time, allowing tries and errors. You can even choose what layers the deformer will act on, allowing many combinations. The only issue here is that you can't "compile" the mesh once deformed : it stays in its "deformer+original mesh" form in the file. It sometimes makes it impossible to reuse in certain circumstances. An option to apply the deformation and end up with a regular mesh would be nice...

Eyebo did a beginner tuto about this tool : [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrkwBN_oDY8]

The other issue i encountered recently is that the rotation only works by 10° increments. Or i didn't found out how to modify this setting. It's quite surprising and i can't believe there is no way to set it to 5, 1 or even decimals (0), just like the rotation tool itself...

Anyway, you've got to try it. : )

Might be best to post some of these questions on Maniaplanet forum. I use to message back and forth to one of the people at Nadeo. They will help if they're free and not to busy mate.

If you can explain more into what you're trying to do I'm sure I can work it out. We just need to put our heads together. Two heads better than one sometimes lol

Don't think I've ever used the deformation tool. I'll look into it though.

What is the Spline Tool ?

Hello,

I could make good use of a spline if it worked like in 3d softwares, but here i can't figure out how this tool works. I create a spline and end up with handle's point, and that's it. No way to manipulate or even see the spline, not speaking about extruding it to make a shape... I must miss something.

Any idea ?

Does the Deformation Tool only rotate by 10° ?

Hello,

Question is in the title... I can't find a way to rotate it by smaller increment. I've tried to set the rotation tool to 1 or even 0° before going to the deformation tool, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Stucked on 10.

A trick ?

And by the way, is there any way to modify the starting and ending angles ? The spline always starts perpendicular to the rectangle gizmo and ends the same, but what if i want an angle there ?

Ah, nice ! I've sent you my adress in personnal message.

I'm curious to see what you've done... : )

Can you message me your email address and I'll send you your item that I've tried making into a block. The block I use is the slanted to straight block but there is a way to make a block without any clipping but there isn't one that long. Your blocl should be 32 x 64 but I can only see 32 x 32 blocks without clippings.

hmm... Starting to better understand, thanks. But not everything...

  • so i can create a block (with clipping) by editing an existing block (variant), but there is no way to manipulate the clips inside the editor.
  • as there is no existing block with inverted tilted clips, there is no way i can create my "bank to bank" item into one block, that's why you're speaking about creating two halves (the advantage of "bank to bank" being that it takes 64 units, not 128, i would have two 32 halves).

-> But there is also no existing block with a single tilted clip, so i would be left with an unused clip floating at the end of each half, if not in the way... And no way to get rid of it.

-> If i export as Crystal, the clips are removed, so this is not a solution

-> Are those "clip remover" i see everywhere of any use here ? I have no idea what they are for...

-> Do you think some good "customizer" could provide me with the two inverted tilted clips in a blank block ?

As for your last message, sorry i don't get what you're saying... ( If you place your item ingame and go to edit it, from there you can export it. Then when you go to edit a block you can import it.)

And btw you don't have to start from scratch. If you place your item ingame and go to edit it, from there you can export it. Then when you go to edit a block you can import it.
