Hi all, i'm currently remaking the ESWC campagne and i need a half road block, i don't know how to make it myself and my friends don't know either. Is there someone we can help me ? I think it could be cool to have half block of every surface so why not making them to. I have all the Trackmania games but my little laptop doesn't run TM2020 very well but if you need any help please ask. If I don't have to race on some big track then I can do most things in TM2020. I did read that you might have to make a mod to add textures to your blocks. This is all good until your mod doesn't load for people. Personaly I would try and manipulate the original textures and use them. Also if you're making a completely new road I would think about making a block called old to new and try and make a block that will nicely connect the original road to your new road.

TM2020 Stadium. I decided to try and make the models myself but it's gonna take a while lol

Which game are you requesting this road for and which environment? I like more realistic looking roads and this was something I was aiming for when I did a mod for TM Stadium years ago called Urban England. Now that we can make 3D models to put ingame I'm guessing this is something that can be made even better.

Road Items Set

I know it's alot to ask, but I was thinking of a modular set of road items. And by road I don't mean default TM road I mean this type:

You could do a variant with sidewalk and a variant without. It's alot but I'm sure plenty of people could use it. There should be turns and such, but you don't even need to include banked if you dont want to. I would use a texture mod but that wouldn't work for things like intersections and such.

If this already exists, send me it please. Thanks!

Almost the ENTIRE item exchange, sorted and zipped

I sorted over 18000 files from this exchange, for TM2020, by doing a little bit each day. I can find almost any item quickly (meaning, if it is placed in the world without a name, I can find it or an equivalent duplicate in my list). Items, Blocks, and Macroblocks are seperate zip files.

Editor tips for handling so many items:

  • Almost all folders are limited to 14 subfolders+files, to avoid the annoying 1/2 and 2/2, etc.
  • Right click on a folder to view only it and it's subfolders. I.e. if you are placing a collection of dirthill items you don't want to clutter the UI with other items.
  • Use tab to toggle on and off the folders, and move the mouse toward the top of the screen when toggling it back on to.
  • Both read the folder's title and see the icon, they both are helpful in figuring out what is going on.
  • Be aware of what each material is called, i.e. "tech" vs "deco" vs "bump", etc.
  • Know the difference between "track" "track terrain" and "terrain".
  • The group "special" has quite a few subcategories, including waypoints, no-collide props, turbos, and more. However, waypoints and turbos with attached track are usually in the folder for the track, not the "specials" folder.
  • Transitions can be in either folder. For example, ice to tech can be in either the ice or tech folder, usually in a "transition" subfolder. Transitions from custom tracks to default tracks should be in the custom track folder. For example, dirtHill to tech will be in "dirtHill" not tech.

Tm2020 USED to hog RAM, spiking to about 40 GB with all these items. However, the new version seems to stay under 2GB when opening the editor with a fresh map and loading times are very, very short! There is only a slight delay when opening block subfolders (items are still basically instant).

Beware the brick-wall The loading times on game startup are a bit longer due to all the items (even if you don't open the editor), but memory usage stays low throught this waiting period. However, about two thousand items more and the game does not load at all. I am not sure if this wall depends on computer resources or is due to a number overflowing in the game and freezing it.

Link to the items, it's just shy of 1GB: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xEh2wtiSaEvccmtCQnrFotIYLFXNQTd8/view?usp=sharing

Link to the blocks, it's around 270MB (EDIT: fixed permissions in link): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b5cwz0vAINKAYCLmC1-YPQHsG6nAiaW5/view?usp=sharing

Link to the macroblocks, it's a tiny file well below one MB: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1osU43zZ1TABFndqmTRB01YOuK6AlA1Mc/view?usp=sharing
