(Most blocks of this set broke with the TM update on October 1, 2024. I updated the set on October 2, if you downloaded the blocks before the update, redownload the set and replace the blocks in the folder.)
How to use:
- Extract the zip file into the Trackmania/Blocks folder. The blocks will appear next to the PlatformDirt blocks in the editor.
- Important: The editor will need the following material file in the Trackmania/Materials folder to understand the blocks correctly. Use the following link to download the material file and place it in the Trackmania/Materials folder: https://download.dashmap.live/babd5821-8cad-4ccd-9a80-218d0e3afd50/InvisibleDirtRoad.Mat.Gbx The material file contains an invisible DirtRoad material which is used for the collidable layer of the blocks. For the visible layer the vanilla texture DecoCliffDirt is used, to which mods can be applied (see below). Players can play the map without the material.
- These blocks are meant to be used with the air mode. Often they may also work without air mode. Sometimes it may be needed to use the ghost mod or free block mod additionally. The black platform blocks can be used beneath the DirtRoad blocks.
What is DirtRoad?
DirtRoad is a material from TM2 which is used in the Canyon, Valley and Lagoon enviroments instead of Dirt. For the Stadium, Rally, Desert and Snow car this material has unique characteristics:
- Stadium car: DirtRoad combines characteristics of Road and Dirt for the Stadium car. The acceleration is like Road, but the handling is between Road and Dirt. The cars starts to autoslide at 320-340 compared to 600 on road. BreakDrifting is possible at 160 speed compared to 210 on Road. Brakdrifts with a realease are already possible at around 140 Speed. The maximum speed is only 700.
- Rally car: DirtRoad is very slippery for the Rally car and comes much closer to real life Rally handling than other materials. The car loses less speed while sliding and it slides much easier. The turn rate while sliding is often better than with nosliding especially at low speed. At low speeds the car can also get some zoops while sliding like on Plastic and Ice.
- Desert car: The Desert car usually does not tilt on DirtRoad, instead it slides. In comparison to Plastic the car slides already at lower speeds, what may be used for Drift maps with the Desert car.
- Snow car: The Snowcar drives on DirtRoad similar as on Road but with a little bit less grip.
Texture Mods:
The blocks of this set use DecoCliffDirt as texture. This texture can be modded to look like Trackmania 2 textures, where this material is originally used. I created 6 texture mods of low file size that can be used. For Canyon, Valley and Lagoon textures each one with and one without TM2 skid marks.
Crtl-Left click on a map in the menue and enter the url when you are asked to choose a skin to apply the mod.
These mods will apply the textures also to the DecoCliffDirt Blocks. Mods with skid marks will use these skid marks also on Dirt, because DirtRoad uses Dirt skid marks.
